With pre- and even non-crash scenarios becoming more important for vehicle occupant safety, the number of relevant loading scenarios increases heavily and the duration of simulated vehicle crash events becomes longer. MADYMO, with its accurate yet CPU-efficient solver and dummy & human models, its built-in sensing & control functionality and its interfaces for co-simulation with other software, is the ideal CAE tool for today’s vehicle and restraint systems design engineer.

Solver

  • Airbags - algorithm enhancements:
    • IMM.METHOD2 algorithm for scaled airbags enhanced. New algorithm ensures all elements out of IMM state before full airbag deployment. More accurate prediction of inflated airbag volume, shape and fabric surface area.
  • Contact - algorithm enhancements:
    • CONTACT.MB_FE with CONTACT_FORCE.KINEMATIC now handles higher degree ellipsoids and cylinders with their actual DEGREE (former Solver versions considered DEGREE=2).
  • Sensing & Control - additional sensors:
    • SENSOR.INJURY for detecting progressing injury values during the simulation.
    • SENSOR.MUSCLE for detecting muscle responses (forces, normalised length, lengthening velocity, activation state) during the simulation. Used for muscle activation control in human body models.
    • SENSOR.SURFACE_MB_MB for detecting the minimum surface between two sets of MB surfaces during the simulation. Useful for occupant body segment to vehicle interior surface distance detection.
  • Output - additional output options:
    • RESULT_ANIMATION enables output of load vectors in HDF5 formatted animation output. Load vectors for body inertia, joints (dummy load cells), contacts, belts, restraints, actuators. Useful for visual load path analysis in MADYMO simulation results.
    • INJURY.VC (Viscous Criterion) now also outputs base function as time history signal.
  • Coupling - windows coupling enabled:
    • SMP mode coupled simulation with LS-DYNA on Windows platforms (PC-DYNA) is now possible. Contact your Dyna distributor for latest PC-Dyna releases supporting coupling with MADYMO.
